Pro-biotic drops for babies & children

Through my baby massage classes I have been hearing a lot about Pro-biotics for babies. About how they can help ease colic and could help reflux AND eczema (by improving gut health). I wish I had know about these when my son was a baby as he was hospitalised with his reflux, it was a nightmare. There is not nearly enough support for parents who have to cope with this.

So these are recommended brands solarays, babylife and biogaia, http://www.colichelp.com/shop/biogaia-probiotic-drops.html, I will soon be getting some to try on my 3 yr old son to see if it helps his eczema.

Craniosacral Therapy for Mums & Babies

healthy_living_centre

Pregnancy, Mothers and Babies low cost clinic
Craniosacral Therapy for Mums & Babies:
Tuesdays at the Healthy Living Centre Islington.

I visited here and had treatment with Joan, she totally helped me in a time of crisis by treating my son. He was very poorly with an ulcerated esophagus, after having had un-diagnosed silent reflux for several months and I kept being told it was colic again and again by health visitors. I was at my wits end, knowing that it definately NOT just colic I was willing to try anthing to help him and heard about the centre from a friend.

Craniosacral treatment is gentle and non-invasive I believe that the sessions helped to start the turn around of my son Dylans’s condition. Joan also treated me in the session which was greatly needed after bearly sleeping more than 20mins at a time for 2 months! It was amazing to see Dylan go from a stressed in pain baby to sleeping very soundly in just 20 minutes. It also gave me some very precious time to have a little rest.

Baby bottles – what I chose & why

My baby had colic and very severe reflux which to help him I had to start part bottle feeding expressed milk. I started out as probably most new mums do with the AVENT bottles, which are fine for most babies with a stronger digestive system but not so good for mine

After trying many i ended up with Dr Browns which I must say are excellent. They helped all wind/colic and the steadier milk flow helped my baby to feed more comfortably with his reflux. The only thing that is not great about Dr Browns is they do have an inner ‘tube’ that is fairly tricky clean, although they do provide a special little bottle brush.

I used Dr Browns until very recently when the Bisphenol A, or BPA scare came I found that they did contain it.
What was said: In April, the National Toxicology Program, part of the US National Institutes of Health, found that, based on animal experiments, exposure to low-levels of BPA “can cause changes in behaviour and the brain, prostate gland, mammary gland and the age at which females attain puberty”.

Although the experts are still not totally sure about how much BPA can affect babies I chose to find a bottle without it. I found Born Free bottles, they are BPA free, they have an inner design that also helps stop air buildup. They are very good value and easier to clean, so the best of both worlds, hooray!
