Through my baby massage classes I have been hearing a lot about Pro-biotics for babies. About how they can help ease colic and could help reflux AND eczema (by improving gut health). I wish I had know about these when my son was a baby as he was hospitalised with his reflux, it was a nightmare. There is not nearly enough support for parents who have to cope with this.
So these are recommended brands solarays, babylife and biogaia, http://www.colichelp.com/shop/biogaia-probiotic-drops.html, I will soon be getting some to try on my 3 yr old son to see if it helps his eczema.

A pillow with health benefits!
It’s one of the best pillows I have slept on (and I have tried many!). I hand-made it for my boyfriend first, then my friends ordered and as I have had so many positive comments, I decided to make it for other people to enjoy the sleep.
Its a great pillow for insomnia, headache, snoring, irritability, stiff neck and sluggishness and because it can be shaped and moulded to how you like it keeps you in a good position. Also can help lessen puffy eyes in the morning as the lavender helps you breathe well.
It supports your neck, moulds your shape, scented with lavender which is very calming and helps you to sleep more deeply. And its even environmentally friendly!
Makes you want one? Well my friend hand-make them bespoke to order, so for prices and to order please email on email@example.com

I stumbled across these in my search to help stop my son scratching at night, you may find then very useful too…
(wording taken from Scratch-sleeves website)
Stopping babies and toddlers scratching themselves can be a real challenge, especially as they get older and can take off traditional scratch mitts. ScratchSleeves are invaluable in coping with itchy, scratchy babies and toddlers. They stay on and minimize the damage done to skin, reducing the risk of infection and avoiding the itching of healing skin.
ScratchSleeves work in two ways:
- The sleeve system ensures the mitts stay firmly in place on even the most determined babies and toddlers.
- The unique dual layer mitts minimize the impact of scratching by isolating the action of the fingers. The two layers of the mitts slide over each other allowing the inner layer of stretch cotton to move with the baby’s fingers while the layer of silk remains stationary against the skin.
Originally developed to stop their own son scratching his face. They were so successful that we felt we had to share the product.
Below see my son with his first flare up of eczema, at about 6 month, worse because of his first big teething episode.
Then at about 2yrs you can see his eczema its still about but much much milder, sea water helps a lot with healing.
As a remedy 2 to 3 times a day I use a home-made massage oil recipe of castor oil, plum kernel oil, sesame oil with a few drops of Patchouli and Peppermint which help calm and stop infection and to cool the skin. (mail me for more info firstname.lastname@example.org).
You can also ask your doctor about allergy medicines and antihistamines that may help. HYDRATION is the key keep encouraging the child/baby to drink regularly, water if possible. (Please see my other posts for more on this topic)

Craniosacral Therapy for Mums & Babies:
Tuesdays at the Healthy Living Centre Islington.
I visited here and had treatment with Joan, she totally helped me in a time of crisis by treating my son. He was very poorly with an ulcerated esophagus, after having had un-diagnosed silent reflux for several months and I kept being told it was colic again and again by health visitors. I was at my wits end, knowing that it definately NOT just colic I was willing to try anthing to help him and heard about the centre from a friend.
Craniosacral treatment is gentle and non-invasive I believe that the sessions helped to start the turn around of my son Dylans’s condition. Joan also treated me in the session which was greatly needed after bearly sleeping more than 20mins at a time for 2 months! It was amazing to see Dylan go from a stressed in pain baby to sleeping very soundly in just 20 minutes. It also gave me some very precious time to have a little rest.
Based in Farringdon London is: The Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy.
I took my little son there when he was very poorly with Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). He was late to be diagnosed with GORD so was in a lot of pain nearly all the time for several months. (I will write more about how I coped soon).
I heard about the FPO charity from another mum who took her daughter there when she kept having ear infections. The treatment really helped my son, helping to release a nerve connected to digestion in his neck that could have happened during his difficult delivery.
Rather than paying for the treatment you just give a donation after each session. (I wish now I had made the time to get treatment myself too, you can receive treatment up until your baby is one year).
More about the charity: The Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy, a charitable organisation based in the UK, seeks to ensure that paediatric osteopathy – a gentle, effective and environmentally-friendly treatment – is established as the first recourse for parents and carers concerned for their child’s health.

I got a great natural teething tip today from a Granddad. I was with my little son at the swimming pool, he was having a grumpy day because of teething pains.
Kind Granddad inquired about my sons age and i told him, “he’s 14months and grumpy from teething..” He then gave me the tip – “Try giving him a slice of Lemon, it worked like a miracle on my grandson, and my mother swore by it!”
To be honest I thought he was a bit crazy and just humored him.
“oh ok ill give it a try..” I said.
When I got home I tried it, I gave my son a slice, at first he was horrified but then went back for more, finished it and had another slice. Kept him seemingly pain free for a good 40mins!
Old wives tale or not Lemon is naturally anti-inflamatory and ill be using it again!
Its very important to take care to use very natural skincare during pregnancy, because it is thought that we can absorb around 60% of harmful chemicals through the skin into the body. Therefore they could possibly be in some way damaging to the baby.
For this reason I chose to use only natural skin care during my pregnancy. Faithfully I used my soothe-me 100% natural & organic bump & boobs oil everyday from 12 weeks. Its a great natural product designed to support the skin during its time of belly s t r e t c h i n g!
I have just a few very small marks under my belly button and that is it. I am clearly very lucky and I know that genetics help too (my mum does not have any). But I DO BELIEVE the natural oil helped support and nourish my skin while it was expanding, helping strengthen and nourish the skin cells to prevent marks from appearing badly.
I have had excellent feedback from all my customers and pregnant friends that used it, some are actually still using it as a body and even face oil! I can make a special 250ml VALUE BOTTLE to order, email me – email@example.com
I am make bespoke products and have a great ‘Healing Oil’ that can help to heal scars and damaged skin.
I only make this to order 100ml £12.99.
Stretchmarks in general – is there a cure?
Other good products are Mama Mio pregnancy and stretchmark products.
Revitol – I have not used or spoken with anyone who has used this but I have heard about it and its all over the internet
